Columbia is the fiber heaven of the world, I discovered this during my last trip in December.
Fique (a natural fibre that grows in the leaves of the fique plant, Furcraea andina, a native to Andean regions of Colombia) chambira (native to the western parts of the Amazon basin, indigenous people extract fibers from the pinnae, they twist the fibers into strings used for making hammocks, bags and nets) and raffia more familiar to us, among many others that I still have to learn about.
This is a handmade raffia necklace by artisans in Usiacuri Colombia
that I met during my trip.
Soon also available in black.
